L’AVAF a organisé le 9 avril 2016, une causerie portant sur le thème des « mutilations génitales »
Pendant l’événement, les membres ont pu visionner un documentaire de témoignages des victimes de mutilations génitales puis discuter autour des images choquantes qu’elles ont vu, notamment sur les violences faites aux femmes dans le monde.
Ce fut également l’occasion de rappeler les bases sur l’appareil génital féminin (quelques membres ont illustré le propos par des dessins des organes reproductifs et sexuels féminins (ovaire, trompe, utérus, vagin, clitoris…).
Pour rappel, le 6 février est la date de la Journée internationale de tolérance zéro à l’égard
des mutilations génitales féminines *.
* Le Fonds des Nations Unies pour la population (FNUAP) et le Fonds des Nations Unies pour l’enfance (UNICEF) dirigent conjointement le plus grand programme mondial visant à accélérer l’abandon des mutilations génitales féminines. Ce Programme conjoint FNUAP-UNICEF est concentré dans 17 pays africains et soutient également différentes initiatives régionales ou internationales en la matière.
